Return to work anxiety

Feb 16, 2023

It’s 10pm and here you are again, curled into a ball, phone in hand, the harsh bright screen lighting your face as you scroll through social media trying to ease the heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach.

I know you’re feeling anxious about going to work. I know you’re thinking that you should just go to bed, that you won’t find the answer here. You’re wondering why everyone else on your feed looks like they’ve just got it sorted. You’re wondering what’s wrong with you for feeling this way.

I want you to know that there’s nothing wrong with you.

We live in a society that pushes you to be perfect all the time, to ‘deliver’ no matter how you’re feeling. Of course you’re looking for answers. But the answers aren’t out there (no matter how long you scroll for!) –  the answers are inside you.

How would it be to think about work and feel neutral? How would it be to feel light? Excited, even?

How would it be for this feeling of dread to be a distant memory? To feel calm and at ease, even on a Sunday night after a week’s holiday?

If you need help finding the answers inside, you’re not alone – we were never taught this. Send me a message and let’s chat.

I’m currently offering complimentary sessions for one applicant. If you know a woman who can relate to this, applications are open here until 19th February: https://bts-coaching.co.uk/pro-bono/
